Hemet, Calif. — On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at approximately 12:19 am, the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received a call reference gunshots heard in the 300 block of East Johnston Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a hospital and is currently listed in critical condition. The Hemet Police Department’s Investigations Bureau has assumed the investigation.

Pedestrian Seriously Injured

Hemet, California – On Wednesday in the early morning hours of September 20th, 2023 at about 3:42 AM, officers from The Hemet Police Department responded to a possible traffic collision within the 600 block of N. State Street in the City of Hemet.  Officers on the scene discovered a collision had occurred involving a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.

On Friday, July 7, 2023, at approximately 9:28 pm, the Hemet Public Safety Communication Center received a 911 call stating his mother was just stabbed by her boyfriend near the 1400 block of East Menlo Avenue. As officers arrived on scene, it was determined there were two victims that the same male suspect had stabbed.

Search Warrants Lead to Stolen Property

On Thursday, June 29, 2023, two search warrants were served on residences in Hemet regarding burglaries and vandalisms at several Hemet Unified School District (HUSD) locations.

The burglaries and vandalism were caught on HUSD video surveillance, leading investigators to identify several suspects. The damage and loss of school property was extensive, and the estimated cost to repair and replace school property is estimated to be over $100,000.

Pedestrian Killed in Traffic Collision

On Saturday, July 1st, 2023, at approximately 12:56 AM, officers from the Hemet Police Department responded to a traffic collision on Florida Avenue near Harvard Street in the City of Hemet. Hemet Police Officers, Hemet Fire Department, and American Medical Response (AMR) arrived on scene and discovered a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Public safety personnel immediately attempted life-saving measures, but the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries.

Passenger Killed in Traffic Collision

Hemet, Calif. — On Monday, February 6, 2023, at about 3:41 pm, the Hemet Police Dispatch Center began receiving calls about a traffic collision that had just occurred in the intersection of Cawston Ave. and Devonshire Ave. in the City of Hemet. The initial callers reported that two vehicles were involved and that at least two people were unconscious. Hemet Police and Fire Department units immediately responded to the location.

Hemet, Calif. – Monterey Park shooting suspect Huu Can Tran had a residence in the 5000 block of W. Florida Avenue in Hemet. The lead agency in this investigation, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, executed a search warrant on his residence.
