On Friday, November 17, 2023, at approximately 9:42 pm, the Hemet Police Department received a call of gunshots heard in the 800 block of South Palm Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult male victim suffering from several gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

SHOOTING HOMICIDE RESULTS IN ARREST OF JUVENILE

Hemet, Calif. — On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at approximately 6:38 p.m., the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received a 911 call from the 600 block of St. John Place regarding a disturbance.  Moments later, the caller indicated someone had been shot.  Upon officer’s arrival they located a crime scene but were unable to locate a shooting victim. 

A short time later, a gunshot wound victim arrived at Hemet Global Medical Center.  The male victim subsequently succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.  The name of the victim will not be released at this time pending official notification of his family. Hemet Police Department’s Investigations Bureau assumed the investigation.

Hemet, Calif. — On Sunday, October 29, 2023, at approximately 11:23 pm, the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received a call reference an unresponsive male discovered at a mobile home park in the 200 block of West Kimball Ave. Officers arrived on scene and located a deceased adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The name of the victim will not be released at this time pending official notification of his family.

Arrest Made in Stabbing Homicide Investigation

Hemet, Calif. — On Monday, September 18, 2023, at approximately 12:35 am, the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received several calls reference a disturbance in the 1000 block of South Gilbert Street. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult victim suffering from several stab wounds. Officers began providing lifesaving measures prior to the victim being transported to a local hospital. The victim ultimately succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The victim’s name is not being released at this time, pending notification of their family. Hemet Police Department’s Investigations Bureau assumed the investigation.

Hemet, Calif. — On Saturday, April 1, 2023, at approximately 10:56 pm, the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received a call of gunshots heard in the 1800 block of W. Devonshire Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult victim suffering from several gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to their injuries. The victim’s name is not being released at this time, pending notification of their family.

The Hemet Police Department’s investigation has led to the arrest of 56-year-old Ronnie Harper of Hemet on Thursday, April 5, for Homicide.

The Hemet Police Department is conducting a Homicide Investigation following the discovery of a deceased male found near the 200 block of North San Jacinto Street in Hemet, CA.

On Tuesday, November 23, 2025, at approximately 1:57 a.m., the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received a 911 call from the 400 block of Steiner Drive regarding a disturbance. Moments later, the caller indicated someone had been shot.  Upon officer’s arrival, they located a crime scene but were unable to locate a shooting victim.

A short time later, two victims with gunshot wounds arrived at Hemet Global Medical Center.  Both sustained critical injuries and were later taken to a nearby trauma center.

HEMET POLICE CONDUCT DUI SAFETY CHECKPOINT

The Hemet Police Department will hold a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, September 15th, 2025, from 8:00 pm to 2:00 am at an undisclosed location within the City of Hemet.

Checkpoint locations are chosen based on DUI crashes and arrests data collection and statistical information. The primary purpose of checkpoints is to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.  During the checkpoint, Officers will look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The safety of our community is and always will be our mission.  Driving under the influence is dangerous and puts a further strain on critical resources.
