On Sunday, 09/08/2024 , at approximately 9:02 PM, Hemet Police Officers responded to an unknown injury traffic collision on Mountain Ave. just west of Soboba St. in the City of Hemet. Officers arrived on the scene and located a silver Kia Forte and a red Hyundai Ioniq with major collision damage within both lanes of traffic.
Hemet, Calif. – On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at approximately 3:21 p.m., the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received a call reference two subjects shot in the 900 block of West Florida Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and located two adult male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to a hospital and are currently listed in critical condition. The Hemet Police Department’s Investigations Bureau has assumed the investigation.
On Saturday, August 31st, 2024, at about 7:57 PM, Hemet Police Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call regarding a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 5500 block of W. Devonshire Avenue. Officers arrived on scene within minutes and discovered a deceased male in the roadway. Officers could not locate a vehicle at the scene and determined that the involved vehicle had fled the area prior to law enforcement’s arrival.
Hemet, CA – On Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 1350 hours, the Hemet Police Department responded to a traffic collision on the Rancho Viejo Middle School’s campus located at 985 North Cawston Avenue in Hemet. The caller stated a male was seen entering school grounds. HUSD security, school staff and HPD School Resource Officers quickly detained the subject as he attempted to jump a fence into Tahquitz High School.
Hemet, Calif. – On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at approximately 4:13 p.m., the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received a call from Hemet Valley Hospital in reference to an adult female suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was then transported to a nearby trauma center and is currently listed in critical condition. The Hemet Police Department’s Investigations Bureau has assumed the investigation and discovered the shooting occurred in the 400 block of N. Juanita St.
Hemet, California – On Wednesday, July 31st, 2024, at approximately 05:32am, Hemet Police Officers responded to a major injury traffic collision at the intersection of Sanderson Avenue and Menlo Avenue.
The Hemet Police Department is aware of allegations that the subject in this officer-involved shooting was unarmed at the time of the incident and or he was compliant with his hands up. This is not the case
Officers arrived in the area and located the male subject in the 200 block of East Florida Avenue where an officer-involved shooting occurred and the suspect was subsequently pronounced deceased on the scene.
On Thursday, June 26, 2024, The Hemet Police Department’s Organized Retail Theft Task Force conducted an Organized Retail Theft Sting at the JCPenney Department Store in the City of Hemet.
On Tuesday, June 26, 2024, at approximately 3:17 AM, officers from the Hemet Police Department were conducting extra patrols in the 200 block of North Hamilton Avenue. This increased patrol was in response to a recent daytime shooting on June 24, 2024.
On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at approximately 2:28 p.m., Hemet Police officers responded to Hemet Global Medical Center following a report of sexual abuse. After an initial interview with the victim, the department’s Investigations Division took over the case to begin a detailed investigation.
Investigators determined that the victim had been subjected to torture, sexual assault, and forced prostitution. During the investigation, a second victim was identified who also reported that she had been trafficked, raped, and physically assaulted by the same suspects. The identities of both victims are being withheld for privacy and safety.
Through the course of the investigation, Davion Marshall and Travis Grisham were identified as the primary suspects. On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, Hemet Police Investigators, with support from Southwest City SWAT, took both suspects into custody in the 300 block of South State Street in Hemet without incident.
On April 23, 2025, at approximately 4:45 a.m., Hemet Police officers responded to the 1300 block of Division Court regarding a report of a suspicious vehicle parked near community mailboxes.
Upon arrival, officers located a tan/gold 1993 Jeep Cherokee parked directly adjacent to the mailboxes. The vehicle was occupied by an adult male, later identified as 42-year-old Naythan Story, who appeared to be unconscious in the driver’s seat while the vehicle was running.
