On Tuesday, June 26, 2024, at approximately 3:17 AM, officers from the Hemet Police Department were conducting extra patrols in the 200 block of North Hamilton Avenue. This increased patrol was in response to a recent daytime shooting on June 24, 2024. During their patrol, officers conducted a check on an occupied vehicle.

The occupants of the vehicle, later identified as 37-year-old Eric McGinnis and 30-year-old Houston Stalling, both of Hemet, were detained. Mr. McGinnis was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm.

The investigation led officers to a residence in the 200 block of North Hamilton Avenue. There, they located and detained a third individual, later identified as 35-year-old Tyrone Cotton, also of Hemet. A parole compliance check was conducted at the residence, uncovering a loaded AR-15-style rifle, several handguns, body armor, and over one pound of illegal narcotics, including Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Oxycodone, Xanax, Ecstasy, and PCP.

Mr. McGinnis, Mr. Stalling, and Mr. Cotton were arrested for narcotics and weapons violations and subsequently booked into Riverside County Jail. Bail was set at $100,000.00 for Mr. McGinnis, $50,000.00 for Mr. Cotton, and $40,000.00 for Mr. Stalling.
