Hemet, Calif.– On Thursday, June 29, 2023, two search warrants were served on residences in Hemet regarding burglaries and vandalisms at several Hemet Unified School District (HUSD) locations.
The burglaries and vandalism were caught on HUSD video surveillance, leading investigators to identify several suspects. The damage and loss of school property was extensive, and the estimated cost to repair and replace school property is estimated to be over $100,000.
Investigators authored search warrants based on surveillance and other evidence, which a judge approved. Upon service of the search warrants, some items of stolen property were located at both locations. However, not all of the property was located, specifically, items related to the safety and security of school sites. Upon completing the search warrants, two male juveniles were ultimately arrested for burglary and possession of stolen property.
Both juveniles were later transported to Juvenile Hall, and the cases were filed with the Riverside County Probation Department. Based on the suspects’ ages, their identities are not being released.
No additional information will be released at this time. These investigations are ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Hemet PD Detective J. Dominguez at 952-765-2400.
