On Saturday, August 31st, 2024, at about 7:57 PM, Hemet Police Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call regarding a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 5500 block of W. Devonshire Avenue. Officers arrived on scene within minutes and discovered a deceased male in the roadway. Officers could not locate a vehicle at the scene and determined that the involved vehicle had fled the area prior to law enforcement’s arrival.
Hemet, California – On Wednesday, July 31st, 2024, at approximately 05:32am, Hemet Police Officers responded to a major injury traffic collision at the intersection of Sanderson Avenue and Menlo Avenue.
May is National Bicycle Safety Month, and the Hemet Police Department is encouraging everyone to get active and safely take bike rides while at the same time reminding drivers to be on the lookout for more people biking and walking.
During Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month in May, the Hemet Police Department would like to remind drivers to always look twice for motorcycles. By practicing safe driving habits and taking shared responsibility on our roads, we can help everyone arrive at their destination safely.
Hemet, CA. – On Thursday, April 28th, 2024, just before midnight, Hemet Police Communication Center received a 9-1-1 call in reference to a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 300 block of N. State St. Officers arrived and located an unresponsive female in the roadway. Lifesaving measures were attempted but the female succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the vehicle stayed on-scene and was cooperative with officers.
Hemet, CA. – On Monday, April 1st, 2024, at approximately 2:14 PM, Hemet Police Communication Center began receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls in reference to a rollover traffic collision within the Echo Hill Estates, located at 1700 S. State Street. Officers arrived and located a black GMC Envoy which had obvious signs of being involved in a rollover collision. Further investigation revealed that the GMC was the only vehicle involved in the crash and the sole occupant of the vehicle had succumbed to his injuries prior to life saving measures being attempted.
The Hemet Police Department’s Traffic Bureau responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the GMC had been traveling eastbound within the mobile estates and for an unknown reason accelerated, leaving the roadway. The identity of the deceased driver is being withheld pending family notification. No public roadways were closed related to this incident.
On Saturday, February 24, 2024, at approximately 11:07 pm, Hemet Police Officers responded to a major injury traffic collision in the 1300 block of West Florida Avenue.
Hemet, California – On Saturday, January 13th, 2024, at approximately 6:30 PM officers from the Hemet Police Department responded to a traffic collision on San Jacinto Street near the intersection of El Nita Lane, in the City of Hemet. Upon arrival, first responders located a bicyclist trapped under a vehicle. Life-saving measures were attempted but tragically, the bicyclist succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital. The adult male’s identity is being withheld pending notification to his family. Hemet Police Traffic Investigators responded and assumed the investigation.
On Friday, November 17th, 2023, at approximately 4:58 AM, Hemet Police Officers responded to a major injury traffic collision within the 900 block of N. Warren Road.
On October 25, 2023, Hemet Police Officers responded to a major injury traffic collision with one fatality. The investigation was turned over to CHP.
Hemet, CA.- On February 6th, 2026, at approximately 6:00pm, Hemet Police Officers responded to a traffic collision that occurred in the 200 block of N. San Jacinto Street in the City of Hemet. Officers responded to the location and located an unresponsive female down in the roadway. Officers immediately began performing life-saving measures until relieved by medical personnel. Despite these life-saving efforts, the female succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. The driver involved in this collision also remained on scene and was cooperative with investigators.
Based on these circumstances, the Hemet Police Department Traffic Bureau responded and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed that the female pedestrian entered the roadway for unknown reasons, and a collision occurred. Impaired driving is not suspected, and the identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification. San Jacinto Street was closed from Devonshire to Latham Avenue for several hours while investigators processed the scene.

The Hemet Police Department is aware of flyers currently circulating on social media and within the community that reference a potential student walkout at some Hemet-area schools on Friday, February 6, 2026.
The flyers appear to reference a form of First Amendment–protected expression and protest. The Hemet Police Department respects the constitutional rights of individuals to engage in lawful expression, while recognizing California truancy policies, as well as school district attendance and safety policies regarding campus operations.
