Hemet, CA. – On Thursday, April 18, 2024, just before midnight, Hemet Police Communication Center received a 9-1-1 call in reference to a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 300 block of N. State St. Officers arrived and located an unresponsive female in the roadway. Lifesaving measures were attempted but the female succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the vehicle stayed on-scene and was cooperative with officers.
The Hemet Police Department’s Traffic Bureau responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle was traveling northbound on State St. approaching Oakland Ave. The female pedestrian entered the roadway for unknown reasons and the collision occurred. Impaired or reckless driving is not suspected at this time. The identity of the deceased pedestrian is being withheld pending family notification. State St. was closed in both directions from Devonshire Ave. to Oakland Ave. until around 03:00 AM.
