Officers arrived in the area and located the male subject in the 200 block of East Florida Avenue where an officer-involved shooting occurred and the suspect was subsequently pronounced deceased on the scene.

Hemet, Calif. – On Friday, March 31st, 2023, at approximately 8:47 pm, Officers from the Hemet Police Department responded to the 400 block of north Palm Avenue in the City of Hemet regarding a physical altercation between two people. As the officers arrived, a 46-year-old male involved in the dispute fled in a dark-colored SUV. Officers engaged in a vehicle pursuit of the male, which ended near the intersection of California Avenue and Devonshire Avenue, where an officer-involved shooting occurred.

Homicide Investigation

Hemet, Calif. — On Wednesday, February 22, at approximately 6:39 pm, the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received a call regarding a large fight in the area of the 500 block of North Gilbert Street. Officers arrived on the scene and located an adult victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

On Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at approximately 10:09 am, Hemet Police Department Officers were conducting a follow-up investigation in the 800 block of South Harvard Street in the city of Hemet regarding a recent theft.

While searching the backyard of the South Harvard Street residence, officers encountered an armed male in an adjacent backyard.

A Hemet Police Department Officer was involved in an officer-involved shooting on Sunday, November 20, 2022.Independent investigators from the Riverside County Force Investigation Division, as well as those from the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office and the Hemet Police Department, responded to start their investigations. These investigations are just beginning, and the scene is still active as of this release.

Hemet, CA – On Saturday, August 13, 2022, at about 4:54 am, a Hemet Police Officer conducted a traffic stop of a Black BMW sedan for vehicle code violations. The driver of the vehicle initially pulled over and stopped in the 1700 block of W. Florida Ave.

Pedestrian Killed in Traffic Collision

Hemet, CA.- On Saturday, August 30th , 2025, at approximately 09:03 PM, Hemet Police Communications Center received several 911 calls regarding a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle, in the area of Lyon Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue, in the City of Hemet. Hemet Police Officers arrived on scene and located an unresponsive pedestrian down in the roadway. Officers began rendering aid to the pedestrian until they were relieved by medical personnel. Despite these life saving measures, the pedestrian succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. The driver involved in this collision also remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation. 

Fatal Traffic Collision

Hemet, CA – On Friday, August 29th, 2025, at approximately 8:36 p.m., the Hemet Police Department responded to the area of State Street and Chambers Avenue regarding a report of a traffic collision. Upon arrival, officers determined that a small motorcycle had been involved in a collision with a Hemet Fire Department engine. Emergency personnel immediately rendered life-saving measures to the rider of the motorcycle; however, despite their efforts, the individual tragically succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The California Highway Patrol responded and has assumed responsibility for conducting the full investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
