 Hemet, Calif. – On Friday, March 31st, 2023, at approximately 8:47 pm, Officers from the Hemet Police Department responded to the 400 block of north Palm Avenue in the City of Hemet regarding a physical altercation between two people. As the officers arrived, a 46-year-old male involved in the dispute fled in a dark-colored SUV. Officers engaged in a vehicle pursuit of the male, which ended near the intersection of California Avenue and Devonshire Avenue, where an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was not injured and was taken into custody without incident. His name will not be released at this time. No officers were injured during this incident, and the involved officer has been placed on administrative leave per department policy. The name of the involved officer will not be released at this time. 

As in the case of every officer-involved shooting in the city of Hemet, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Force Investigation Detail, aided by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, will conduct this investigation.
