Officer Brett Maynard became a K-9 handler in November of 2024 and was matched with his 1-year old Belgian Malinois, K-9 Kitti. They graduated from the Single Purpose Firearm Detector Dog Handler Course at Vohne Liche Kennels-West in November of 2024, and received a certificate of completion from the International Police Canine Association.
K-9 Kitti is a 60-pound female Belgian Malinois. She was born in the Netherlands in 2023 and was purchased through Vohne Liche Kennels.
K-9 Kitti is trained in detection work, specifically evidence location involving ammunition, and firearms. Kitti plays a crucial role in keeping our communities safe. Whether on the streets, at crime scenes, or during investigations, K-9 Kitti’s expertise helps us swiftly and effectively identify potential threats. Kitti was purchased, equipped, and trained with funds generously donated by the Hemet Community and the Hemet Police Dept. K9 Foundation, Inc.
