Hemet, Calif. – On Friday, July 14th, 2023, at approximately 9:17 pm, a traffic collision occurred on Florida Avenue near Gilmore Street in the City of Hemet. As a result of the crash, three children in their teens were injured, as well as an on-duty Hemet Police officer. The injuries range from minor to moderate, and all four injured parties were treated at an area hospital.
The collision occurred within the westbound lanes of Florida Avenue, east of Gilmore Street. Both vehicles sustained major damage and could not be driven from the collision scene. The California Highway Patrol, San Gorgonio Pass, is investigating this incident. At this time, the cause of the collision is still under investigation, and the names of the involved parties will not be released.
