Hemet, Calif. — On Monday, October 13, 2025, at approximately 9:46 a.m., the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received a 911 call regarding a shooting in the 3100 block of West Florida Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and located a deceased adult male with an apparent gunshot wound. The identity of the deceased will not be disclosed at this time, pending official family notification.
This is an active homicide investigation handled by the Hemet Police Department’s Investigations Bureau. On Tuesday, November 23, 2025, at approximately 1:57 a.m., the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received a 911 call from the 400 block of Steiner Drive regarding a disturbance. Moments later, the caller indicated someone had been shot.  Upon officer’s arrival, they located a crime scene but were unable to locate a shooting victim.

A short time later, two victims with gunshot wounds arrived at Hemet Global Medical Center.  Both sustained critical injuries and were later taken to a nearby trauma center.

On Saturday, October 5, 2019, at approximately 12:45 am, Hemet Police Department officers responded to a motel located in the 2600 block of W. Florida Ave, Hemet, regarding shots fired.  Hemet police officers arrived on scene and located a male gunshot victim. Officers provided lifesaving measures until relieved by Hemet Fire Personnel. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

On Friday, November 17, 2023, at approximately 9:42 pm, the Hemet Police Department received a call of gunshots heard in the 800 block of South Palm Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult male victim suffering from several gunshot wounds. Officers provided lifesaving measures until relieved by Hemet Fire Personnel, who transported the victim to a local hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Hemet, California – On Friday, March 21, 2025, at about 2:27 am, Hemet Fire responded to the 300 block of E. Florida Avenue, Hemet in regards to an unconscious male in the parking lot.  The male subject was transported to a local trauma center for further treatment.    

At 4:02 hours, Hemet Police dispatch received a call from the hospital stating the male subject sustained major trauma to his head.  Hemet Police Department’s Investigations Bureau was notified and assumed the investigation.  Detectives determined that the victim was assaulted and left unconscious before the call for medical assistance was made.

Despite lifesaving efforts, on Monday, March 24, 2025, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  The victim’s name is not being released at this time.  During the course of the investigation, Detectives identified Michael Martin as the suspect responsible for the homicide.  On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, Martin was arrested and transported to Hemet PD and then to Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility where he was booked for homicide and held on a $1,000,000 bail.

Hemet, California – On Friday, February 21, 2025, at about 10:25 pm, Hemet Police Officers responded to the 100 block of North Hamilton Avenue, Hemet in regards to a stabbing that had just occurred.  The reporting party informed dispatch his friend was stabbed. 

When Officers arrived on scene they located a 15-year-old male with a stab wound.  Officers provided lifesaving measures until relieved by medical personnel who transported the victim to a local trauma center for further medical treatment. 

Despite lifesaving efforts, on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  The victim’s name is not being released at this time.  The Hemet Police Department’s Investigations Bureau is handling the investigation.

Hemet, Calif. – On Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, at approximately 5:30am, Hemet Police Communications Center received multiple 911calls regarding a bicyclist being struck by a vehicle in the 3800 block of West Devonshire Avenue.  When officers arrived on scene they located an unresponsive male down in the roadway.  Officers provided life saving measures until relieved by Emergency Medical Personnel who transported the victim to a local hospital.  Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The victim’s name is not being released at this time, pending notification of his family.

Hemet, Calif. — On Sunday, March 24, 2024, at approximately 4:51 p.m., the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received several calls reference a shooting in the 1300 block of West Fruitvale Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and located two female adult victims suffering from gunshot wounds.  Officers began providing medical aid for both victims prior to them being transported to a local hospital.  Unfortunately, one victim ultimately succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Update on stabbing homicide occurred on September 18, 2023, at approximately 12:35 a.m.

“On January 22, 2024, this case went to jury trial and Goodwin was found guilty of murder. 

On March 1, 2024, Goodwin was sentenced to 26 years to life in prison for her involvement.”

HEMET POLICE CONDUCT DUI SAFETY CHECKPOINT

The Hemet Police Department will hold a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, September 15th, 2025, from 8:00 pm to 2:00 am at an undisclosed location within the City of Hemet.

Checkpoint locations are chosen based on DUI crashes and arrests data collection and statistical information. The primary purpose of checkpoints is to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.  During the checkpoint, Officers will look for signs that drivers are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. The safety of our community is and always will be our mission.  Driving under the influence is dangerous and puts a further strain on critical resources.
