Hemet, California – On Wednesday in the early morning hours of September 20th, 2023 at about 3:42 AM, officers from The Hemet Police Department responded to a possible traffic collision within the 600 block of N. State Street in the City of Hemet. Officers on the scene discovered a collision had occurred involving a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.
Officers arrived in the area and located the male subject in the 200 block of East Florida Avenue where an officer-involved shooting occurred and the suspect was subsequently pronounced deceased on the scene.
Following these commands coming from the UAV, the man dropped the knife and willingly surrendered. Officers safely detained him without the use of force and transported him to a local facility for treatment.
