On Thursday, December 5, 2024, at approximately 07:57 am, Hemet Police Officers responded to a traffic collision west of the intersection of Kirby Street and Acacia Avenue.

Officers arrived on the scene within minutes and located the two vehicles involved; a smaller passenger vehicle and a City of Hemet Public Works utility truck. An adult male, later discovered to be a City of Hemet employee for the Public Works Department was discovered unresponsive at the scene. Officers immediately began providing first aid, but unfortunately the male succumbed to his injuries on scene.

Hemet, Calif. – On Tuesday, November 12th, 2024, at approximately 5:30am, Hemet Police Communications Center received multiple 911calls regarding a bicyclist being struck by a vehicle in the 3800 block of West Devonshire Avenue.  When officers arrived on scene they located an unresponsive male down in the roadway.  Officers provided life saving measures until relieved by Emergency Medical Personnel who transported the victim to a local hospital.  Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The victim’s name is not being released at this time, pending notification of his family.

HEMET POLICE RECEIVES GRANT TO INCREASE ROAD SAFETY!

The Hemet Police Department announced today that it has received a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to support its ongoing enforcement and education programs to help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths on our roads. The grant program runs through September 2025.

Hemet, Calif. – On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at approximately 9:47 p.m., the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received several calls reporting multiple subjects shooting at each other in the 100 block of East Stetson Avenue.  Officers arrived on scene and located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to a hospital and is in stable condition.  The Hemet/San Jacinto Gang Task Force (GTF) has assumed the investigation.

MULTIPLE ARRESTS MADE DURING AB 109 COMPLIANCE SWEEP

Hemet, Calif. — On October 10, 2024, the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force (Region 3) and Central P.A.C.T. (Post-release Accountability & Compliance Team) executed a large- scale joint operation in the cities of Hemet, San Jacinto and surrounding areas.  The operation focused on compliance checks and warrant services on those on parole, probation, mandatory supervision, and post-release community supervision (PRCS).

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION – update

Hemet, Calif. – On Saturday, October 5, 2024 at approximately 7:33pm, the Hemet Police Department received numerous calls of gunshots in the 800 block of West Florida Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a deceased adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim’s name is not being released at this time, pending notification of his family.

Hemet, California – On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, members of the Hemet Police Department’s Organized Retail Theft (ORT) Team, with the assistance of Menifee Police Department’s Problem Orientated Police (POP) Team conducted an Organized Retail Theft Sting at Lowes Home Improvement Store in the City of Hemet.

Pedestrian Killed in Traffic Collision

On Monday, September 23rd, 2024, at approximately 7:28 pm, Hemet Police Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call regarding a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 3000 block of W. Florida Avenue. Hemet Police Officers arrived on scene within minutes and located a deceased female in the roadway.

May is national bicycle safety month

The Hemet Police Department is encouraging everyone to be alert to keep bicyclists safe. With the arrival of warmer weather, more people are biking for commuting, exercise, or recreation, making it essential for all people to look out for one another and save lives.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 1,105 people killed while riding a bike in 2022, and an estimated 46,195 bicyclists were injured.

“Bicycling is a great means of transportation and recreation, and everyone deserves to ride to their destination safely,” Sergeant Matt Chavez said. “Whether you are behind the wheel or on two wheels, we all share the responsibility to move safely on our roads .”

This proactive initiative aimed to address and deter organized retail theft activities affecting local businesses.
