HEMET POLICE RECEIVES GRANT TO INCREASE ROAD SAFETY!

The Hemet Police Department announced today that it has received a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to support its ongoing enforcement and education programs to help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths on our roads. The grant program runs through September 2025.

Hemet, Calif. – On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at approximately 9:47 p.m., the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received several calls reporting multiple subjects shooting at each other in the 100 block of East Stetson Avenue.  Officers arrived on scene and located a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.  The victim was transported to a hospital and is in stable condition.  The Hemet/San Jacinto Gang Task Force (GTF) has assumed the investigation.

MULTIPLE ARRESTS MADE DURING AB 109 COMPLIANCE SWEEP

Hemet, Calif. — On October 10, 2024, the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force (Region 3) and Central P.A.C.T. (Post-release Accountability & Compliance Team) executed a large- scale joint operation in the cities of Hemet, San Jacinto and surrounding areas.  The operation focused on compliance checks and warrant services on those on parole, probation, mandatory supervision, and post-release community supervision (PRCS).

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION – update

Hemet, Calif. – On Saturday, October 5, 2024 at approximately 7:33pm, the Hemet Police Department received numerous calls of gunshots in the 800 block of West Florida Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a deceased adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim’s name is not being released at this time, pending notification of his family.

Hemet, California – On Wednesday, September 25, 2024, members of the Hemet Police Department’s Organized Retail Theft (ORT) Team, with the assistance of Menifee Police Department’s Problem Orientated Police (POP) Team conducted an Organized Retail Theft Sting at Lowes Home Improvement Store in the City of Hemet.

Pedestrian Killed in Traffic Collision

On Monday, September 23rd, 2024, at approximately 7:28 pm, Hemet Police Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call regarding a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 3000 block of W. Florida Avenue. Hemet Police Officers arrived on scene within minutes and located a deceased female in the roadway.

Hemet PD Launches spidr tech

The Hemet Police Department launches SPIDR Tech, a Versaterm Public Safety company, which is an automated notification system that will send automated text messages to people who have called 9-1-1 or the non-emergency phone number and requested calls for service from the Hemet Police Department.

Hemet, California – On Sunday, September 8, 2024, at about 2:03 am, Hemet Police Officers responded to the 200 block of East Florida Avenue, Hemet in regards to a stabbing that had just occurred.  The reporting party informed dispatch someone was stabbed outside the bar.

Driver Killed in Traffic Collision

On Sunday, 09/08/2024 , at approximately 9:02 PM, Hemet Police Officers responded to an unknown injury traffic collision on Mountain Ave. just west of Soboba St. in the City of Hemet. Officers arrived on the scene and located a silver Kia Forte and a red Hyundai Ioniq with major collision damage within both lanes of traffic.

Hemet, California – On Friday, March 21, 2025, at about 2:27 am, Hemet Fire responded to the 300 block of E. Florida Avenue, Hemet in regards to an unconscious male in the parking lot.  The male subject was transported to a local trauma center for further treatment.    

At 4:02 hours, Hemet Police dispatch received a call from the hospital stating the male subject sustained major trauma to his head.  Hemet Police Department’s Investigations Bureau was notified and assumed the investigation.  Detectives determined that the victim was assaulted and left unconscious before the call for medical assistance was made.

Despite lifesaving efforts, on Monday, March 24, 2025, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  The victim’s name is not being released at this time.  During the course of the investigation, Detectives identified Michael Martin as the suspect responsible for the homicide.  On Tuesday, March 25, 2025, Martin was arrested and transported to Hemet PD and then to Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility where he was booked for homicide and held on a $1,000,000 bail.

Hemet Police Arrest Two Suspects in Citywide Graffiti Case

The Hemet Police Department has successfully apprehended two suspects linked to a series of graffiti vandalism incidents that have plagued local businesses and public property over the past several weeks. On March 11, 2025, while conducting encampment enforcement along Florida Avenue, detectives from the AERO (Active Engagement Response and Outreach for our Community) Team obtained critical information regarding individuals responsible for the widespread “LMN” graffiti appearing throughout the city. The investigation led detectives to a local hotel, where they contacted the primary adult suspect.
During their contact, detectives discovered a significant amount of evidence directly linking him to the ongoing graffiti vandalism. Additionally, detectives seized 22.12 grams of methamphetamine and 1.84 grams of fentanyl, along with other evidence indicating narcotic sales. Initial estimates for damages caused by the tagging spree exceed $4,000 in just the past few weeks.
