Hemet, Calif.– On Monday, July 22, 2024, members of the Hemet Police Department’s Organized Retail Theft (ORT) Team, with the assistance of the AERO team and Riverside County Central PACT, searched a residence in the City of Perris regarding numerous retail thefts from several City of Hemet retail locations. During their search, many items of stolen merchandise from local retailers were located and recovered.
The recovered stolen property, with a significant value exceeding $31,000, is evidence of the effectiveness of the Hemet Police Department’s Organized Retail Theft operations. Additionally, one 41-year-old male from the City of Perris was arrested related to this investigation for felony theft, possession of stolen property, and a felony probation violation. The subject was transported to the Riverside County Jail, and the case was filed with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
Throughout this investigation, Hemet Police Detectives worked hand in hand with local retailers, conducting surveillance and obtaining other evidence that led to the subject’s identity and location. The success of this operation is a testament to the strong partnership between the Hemet Police Department and our local retailers, who are integral in combating organized retail theft.
The Organized Retail Theft (ORT) Team is funded by a State of California grant that was awarded to the Hemet Police Department by the Board of State and Community Corrections to combat Organized Retail Theft in our city.
