The Hemet Police Department is aware of flyers currently circulating on social media and within the community that reference a potential student walkout at some Hemet-area schools on Friday, February 6, 2026.

The flyers appear to reference a form of First Amendment–protected expression and protest. The Hemet Police Department respects the constitutional rights of individuals to engage in lawful expression, while recognizing California truancy policies, as well as school district attendance and safety policies regarding campus operations.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Department is coordinating with the Hemet Unified School District, school administrators, and campus staff to ensure student safety, maintain orderly school operations, and support school officials as appropriate.

Officers will maintain communication with school sites throughout the day and provide additional presence if needed to assist with traffic flow, campus safety, and overall situational awareness.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with their students and to contact school administrators with any questions regarding campus policies or expectations. Anyone with information or concerns related to safety is encouraged to contact the Hemet Police Department.

The Hemet Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety of students, staff, and the community while supporting lawful and peaceful expression.

For non-emergency concerns, please contact the Hemet Police Department at (951) 765-2400.  In the event of an emergency, dial 9-1-1.
