Hemet, California – On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at approximately 00:01 am, Hemet Police Officers responded to a major injury traffic collision north of the intersection of Warren Road and Devonshire Avenue. Officers arrived on the scene and located a gray Mitsubishi Lancer and a white Nissan Pathfinder on Warren Road. Both vehicles had major collision damage and inside each of the vehicles, officers located a single occupant unresponsive male subject in the driver’s seat. The driver of the Lancer had succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the Pathfinder was extricated by the Hemet Fire Department and was transported to a local area trauma center, where he was listed in critical condition.
The Hemet Police Department’s Traffic Division responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed that this traffic collision occurred in the unincorporated area of the City of Hemet. This investigation was later turned over to the California Highway Patrol – San Gorgonio Pass Office, as the area of initial impact between the vehicles falls within their jurisdiction.
The northbound and southbound lanes of Warren Road, between Devonshire Avenue and Esplanade Avenue were closed for several hours as traffic investigators conducted their investigation.
