On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Campus Security at West Valley High School reported a physical altercation involving multiple students on campus.  The School Resource Officer assigned to the high school, who was on campus, immediately responded.

The involved students were quickly separated, and one student received immediate medical attention at the school for minor injuries.  This student was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and was released the same day.

Shortly after the incident, several student-recorded videos circulated on social media containing claims that a student had died as a result of the altercation. These claims are false. Additionally, the Hemet Police Department is aware of social media posts regarding threats of retaliation at the school.  On Friday, November 14, there was a rumor of a specific threat made at the school.  This threat was deemed non-credible.  Regardless, the Hemet Police Department will have additional staff at and around the site to ensure the safety of all students, staff, and parents.

Hemet Police Officer Rodriguez, who is the School Resource Officer assigned to West Valley High School has assumed responsibility for the investigation. Through interviews and a review of campus surveillance footage, two victims have been identified along with multiple juvenile suspects. Three students have been arrested so far and booked into Riverside County Juvenile Hall.

The Hemet Police Department is aware and continues to monitor the numerous inaccuracies and rumors circulating on social media regarding this incident. Furthermore, spreading misinformation is not harmless.  It pulls essential safety personnel away from where they are needed and can have serious consequences.  Every report, tip, or claim is taken seriously and investigated thoroughly until proven otherwise.

The Hemet Police Department remains committed to the safety of all students, staff, and school campuses. Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Hemet Police Department at 951-765-2400 or any of the Hemet Police School Resource Officers at the school.
