Hemet, Calif. — On Friday, November 17, 2023, at approximately 9:42 pm, the Hemet Police Department received a call of gunshots heard in the 800 block of South Palm Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they found an adult male victim suffering from several gunshot wounds. Officers provided lifesaving measures until relieved by Hemet Fire Personnel, who transported the victim to a local hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Hemet Police Department’s Investigations Bureau responded to the scene and conducted a thorough and comprehensive investigation. During the course of the investigation, investigators identified and arrested 38-year-old Anthony Renard Miles Jr. of Murrieta for Homicide. He was held on $1,000,000 dollars bail.
This complex investigation involved investigators from the Hemet Police Department in cooperation with the Riverside County Gang Impact Team (GIT) and RSO’s Central Homicide Unit. This outcome would not have been possible without the dedication, teamwork, and the countless hours invested by everyone involved.
On July 8, 2025, the jury trial concluded, and Miles was found guilty of murder. On August 8, 2025, Miles was sentenced to 55 years to life in prison for his involvement.
