Hemet, Calif. – On Saturday, October 5, 2024 at approximately 7:33pm, the Hemet Police Department received numerous calls of gunshots in the 800 block of West Florida Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a deceased male with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim’s name is not being released at this time, pending notification of his family.
Update – Hemet Police Department’s Investigations Bureau responded to the scene and conducted a thorough and comprehensive investigation. During the course of the investigation, Detectives identified 46-year old Ernie Miranda as the suspect responsible for the homicide.
On October 7, 2024, at about 10:45 am, Riverside County Gang Impact Team (GIT) located and apprehended Miranda in Cabazon, CA. Miranda was transported to Hemet PD and then to Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility where he was booked for homicide and held on a $1,000,000 bail.
