Officer-Involved Shooting
A Hemet Police Department Officer was involved in an officer-involved shooting on Sunday, November 20, 2022.Independent investigators from the Riverside County Force Investigation Division, as well as those from the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office and the Hemet Police Department, responded to start their investigations. These investigations are just beginning, and the scene is still active as of this release.
Hemet Police Department Awarded Grant to Deter Unsafe Behaviors, Increase Safety on Roads
The Hemet Police Department will increase patrols throughout the community and provide other traffic safety programs to help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths on roads with the newly awarded OTS Grant.
Homicide Suspect Arrested
An arrest has been made following an ongoing homicide investigation leaving one male dead in the city of Hemet. The suspect is being held on a $2 million bail.
2 Arrested 12 Cited at Hemet Police DUI Checkpoint
On April 18th, 2024, 2 drivers were arrested for DUI and 12 citations were issued at a DUI checkpoint. 12 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license, 649 vehicles were contacted in total.
Pedestrian Dies in Traffic Collision
Hemet, CA. – On Thursday, April 28th, 2024, just before midnight, Hemet Police Communication Center received a 9-1-1 call in reference to a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 300 block of N. State St. Officers arrived and located an unresponsive female in the roadway. Lifesaving measures were attempted but the female succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the vehicle stayed on-scene and was cooperative with officers.
