As millions of families throughout the state hit the road to visit friends and family this Thanksgiving holiday, the Hemet Police Department reminds drivers and passengers of the importance of wearing a seat belt and the deadly consequences of not buckling up.
A Hemet Police Department Officer was involved in an officer-involved shooting on Sunday, November 20, 2022.Independent investigators from the Riverside County Force Investigation Division, as well as those from the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office and the Hemet Police Department, responded to start their investigations. These investigations are just beginning, and the scene is still active as of this release.
The Hemet Police Department will increase patrols throughout the community and provide other traffic safety programs to help reduce the number of serious injuries and deaths on roads with the newly awarded OTS Grant.
An arrest has been made following an ongoing homicide investigation leaving one male dead in the city of Hemet. The suspect is being held on a $2 million bail.
Officers arrived in the area and located the male subject in the 200 block of East Florida Avenue where an officer-involved shooting occurred and the suspect was subsequently pronounced deceased on the scene.
Following these commands coming from the UAV, the man dropped the knife and willingly surrendered. Officers safely detained him without the use of force and transported him to a local facility for treatment.
