Hemet, CA. – On Thursday, April 28th, 2024, just before midnight, Hemet Police Communication Center received a 9-1-1 call in reference to a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle in the 300 block of N. State St. Officers arrived and located an unresponsive female in the roadway. Lifesaving measures were attempted but the female succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the vehicle stayed on-scene and was cooperative with officers.

HEMET POLICE TO CONDUCT DUI SAFETY CHECKPOINT
The Hemet Police Department will hold a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and Driver’s License Checkpoint on Wednesday, April 18th, 2024, from 8:00 pm to 2:00 am at an undisclosed location within the City of Hemet.
Motorist Dies in Single Vehicle Rollover Traffic Collision
Hemet, CA. – On Monday, April 1st, 2024, at approximately 2:14 PM, Hemet Police Communication Center began receiving multiple 9-1-1 calls in reference to a rollover traffic collision within the Echo Hill Estates, located at 1700 S. State Street. Officers arrived and located a black GMC Envoy which had obvious signs of being involved in a rollover collision. Further investigation revealed that the GMC was the only vehicle involved in the crash and the sole occupant of the vehicle had succumbed to his injuries prior to life saving measures being attempted.
The Hemet Police Department’s Traffic Bureau responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the GMC had been traveling eastbound within the mobile estates and for an unknown reason accelerated, leaving the roadway. The identity of the deceased driver is being withheld pending family notification. No public roadways were closed related to this incident.
April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month
April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month and a time to put safety in the driver’s seat. The Hemet Police Department will be actively looking for drivers throughout the month who are in violation of the state’s hands-free cell phone law.
Shooting Homicide Investigation
Hemet, Calif. — On Sunday, March 24, 2024, at approximately 4:51 p.m., the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received several calls reference a shooting in the 1300 block of West Fruitvale Avenue. Officers arrived on scene and located two female adult victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers began providing medical aid for both victims prior to them being transported to a local hospital. Unfortunately, one victim ultimately succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

Update on stabbing homicide occurred on September 18, 2023, at approximately 12:35 a.m.
“On January 22, 2024, this case went to jury trial and Goodwin was found guilty of murder.
On March 1, 2024, Goodwin was sentenced to 26 years to life in prison for her involvement.”
Major Injury Traffic Collision
On Saturday, February 24, 2024, at approximately 11:07 pm, Hemet Police Officers responded to a major injury traffic collision in the 1300 block of West Florida Avenue.
Juvenile Intentionally Drives Vehicle into Residence
Hemet, Calif. — On Sunday, January 28, 2024, at approximately 3:32 p.m., the Hemet Public Safety Communications Center received a call reference a 14-year-old female juvenile having a mental health episode at a residence located in the 3000 block of Sydney St. While officers were responding to the location, the juvenile drove her sister’s vehicle away from the residence while her sister was in the back seat. Moments later, the vehicle collided into a residence in the 400 block of Madrid St.
Upon officer’s arrival at the Madrid St residence, they located the vehicle unoccupied. Video obtained from the residence depicted the juvenile driver exiting the vehicle after the collision. The juvenile and her sister fled on foot but were immediately located at the Sydney St residence. Based on the investigation and statements obtained, the juvenile was detained and placed on a 72-hour mental health involuntary hold per 5150 of the Welfare and Institutions Code.
